I enjoy thrifting, but I haven't always. When I was younger, we got new school clothes from the thrift store. I was so embarrassed that I didn't get new clothes like the other kids did. I hated shopping at thrift stores because it was a sign of poverty. It took years for that attitude to change, but I am so grateful that it did. When I was in junior high, I discovered Pinterest and all the DIY projects that involved thrifted clothing. I fell in love!

I gradually started thrift shopping more and buying used clothes because I wanted to! I learned how to buy clothes that actually fit me (through trial and error). I had to make a lot of mistakes along the way, but I learned that no clothing is cute enough if it doesn't fit right. I watched YouTube tutorials to figure out how to alter clothes and applied what I learned to tailor clothing I bought to fit my body specifically.
I thrift because it allows me to be creative. While shopping malls have a lot to choose from, they mostly all look the same. I like that I can get fun textures, colors, styles, and sizes for a low price. Here are 5 reasons to thrift
It allows you to be creative
Thrifting saves you money
Recycling clothes is a great way to keep them out of the landfills
Altering thrifted clothes is much less stressful because you didn't pay much to begin with
It's like a treasure hunt and each purchase is that much more rewarding
Thrifting has changed my life. The very thing that used to embarrass me is now what sets me apart as unique, stylish, and creative.
